Gone with the wind

What a day!  Last night at 4:30pm the Niagara region was put under a tornado watch, suffering the tail winds of the major storm that occurred in the States last night.   The tail winds, topping at 110 km/h, did enough damage though.  This morning the power went off at school and didn't come on until 6 hours later!   I was going to go out for coffee with friends, but the power outage was more extensive than I realized and we had to cancel those plans.  The drive back home was interesting as well, with felled trees and power lines that blocked roads and caused several detours.  The roads were littered with garbage, shingles, and tree debris.  Due to the power outages, all the intersections became four-way stops.  When I got home, I saw many branches down in my yard and saw that part of the "Glenn" fence as my neighbours affectionately call it was down in the backyard and some of the lattice work had blown off.  Here are a bunch of pictures that I took on a walk in my neighbourhood.

This is my next-door neighbour's fence.
A huge gust of wind took the fence right off the posts and dinged up the side of his truck.

If you look closely, you'll notice that this "branch" is actually the top of the tree!

Unfortunately, it wasn't safe for anyone to go in so the chickens couldn't be rescued.

It is a picture of the waves of Port Dalhousie.

There is none like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might.
Who would not fear you, O King of the nations? For this is your due; for among all the wise ones of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you.
But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses. ~ Jeremiah 10:6-7, 10a, 12-13

Cottage 88

This past weekend was certainly a departure from traditional Easter celebrations.  A cottage in Owen Sound.  The beauty of Georgian Bay.  The majesty of Inglis Falls shortly after the spring thaw.  Great Christian friends.  I couldn't have asked for a better combination.  It was a therapeutical weekend of sheer relaxation and refreshment.  Don't worry, pictures will be posted soon!

Musings

Welcome to my attempt at journaling on a more regular basis, sharing my various thoughts and experiences on special events, travel expeditions and daily life goings-on.  I pray that as I have been encouraged by reading other blogs, you may also find encouragement, share a smile, and probably laugh or cry along with me.  Blessings in Christ.
